Phone camera preview slow or blurry? Try this first
Your phone camera may look warm and sharp on the phone, but the computer preview can sometimes look delayed, blurry, or different in color.
Most of the time, the camera is not the problem. The phone and computer are having trouble talking to each other quickly.
The fastest fix: turn off VPN
If your computer or phone is using a VPN, turn it off and reconnect the phone camera.
A VPN can make your phone and computer take a slower path to reach each other. When that happens, the live preview may look worse than the phone screen.
Try this:
- Turn off VPN on your computer.
- Turn off VPN on your phone, if it has one.
- Create a new phone camera link in PrepVid.
- Open the new link on your phone.
- Keep the phone page open while recording.
If you are using a phone hotspot, this can still work well. In many cases, hotspot feels slow only because a VPN is still running.
Other things to check
Keep both devices close together. A weak signal can make the computer preview lag.
Keep the phone screen awake. If the phone locks, the camera page may pause or slow down.
Turn off Low Power Mode while recording. Some phones reduce background activity when battery saving is on.
Close extra camera or meeting apps. If another app is using the camera or microphone, the browser may not get a clean connection.
Use the same Wi-Fi network when possible. If the Wi-Fi has a "guest" mode, switch to a normal network because guest networks often block nearby devices from seeing each other.
If the preview is still slow
Use the preview only to frame yourself, then trust the phone recording for quality.
After you stop recording, wait for the receiving progress to finish. Larger clips take longer to return, especially over hotspot. Once the clip arrives, PrepVid shows the review window so you can check and save it.
If the clip does not return, reconnect with a new link and check VPN first. That one step fixes more phone-camera connection issues than anything else.
